Scentsy Consultant: Men’s Health Week

As a Scentsy Consultant, we know that there are not many men who are also Scentsy Consultants, so an announcement of something like Men’s Health Week would go mostly unnoticed in the Scentsy circle.  My goal is to let everybody know that the week of June 14th to June 20th is Men’s Health Week and is dedicated to helping the special men in our lives take control of their health so that they are with us for a long time. The intention of Men’s Health Week is to improve the awareness of preventable health issues and promote early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

This week gives health care providers, public policy makers, the media, and individuals a chance to promote men and boys to inquire about regular medical check ups and early treatment for disease. The greatest threat to men’s health occurs from heart disease, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and colon cancer. All of these medical conditions are very treatable with early discovery and may be preventable with proper diet, exercise and quit smoking.

One of the main areas of men’s health that this awareness hopes to make better is preventive care. Studies have shown that men are much less informed then women about their health and are more reluctant to see a doctor until the condition is advanced.

A few facts:

• President Clinton signed S.J. Res 179, to designating “National Men’s Health Week” on May 31, 1994.
• Men die six years younger than women.
• Men are two to three times more likely to get skin cancer.
• One of the most preventatives is a proper diet.

There are many things we can do to help that special man in our life, but in conjunction with Father’s Day, I would like to suggest a Scentsy wickless candle.
